Background

Ventilator-Associated-Pneumonia (VAP) represents a major challenge for clinicians and institutions because it impacts considerably on patients’ safety and healthcare costs.

Objective

The VAPAWAY website is dedicated to bringing together European physicians, nurses and other related professionals to discuss and agree on how to develop and disseminate a European consensus on VAP prevention.

 
Goals and Activities

VAPAWAY website is meant to be an information exchange platform for research and education by:

• developing a self-assessment questionnaire: a European Evidence-Based Educational Survey for the Prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia
• facilitating the planning and coordination throughout Europe of training and e-learning programs about VAP prevention
• selecting key articles, publications and guidelines on VAP and more specific VAP prevention
• sharing an agenda of events, congress, news, etc.
• research projects with the aim of clarifying open issues related to VAP prevention
